Paul Pachan Felling Trailers Night Shift Supervisor

Paul Pachan, Night Shift Supervisor

Name: Paul Pachan
Status: 10 Years
Title: Night Shift Supervisor

Paul joined the Felling Trailers team in April of 2011 as a member of the Final Assembly (Finishing) and Maintenance team. As part of the Final Assembly team, Paul learned and carried out the many details of completing a trailer. Final Assembly is more than putting the decking and lighting on a trailer. This is where hydraulic systems and air brakes are plumbed on a trailer when they are optioned with those features. Following the trailer’s blueprints and the shop documentation are vital for producing a trailer to the customer’s specifications. While part of the Final Assembly team, Paul also carried out the tasks of the department’s Maintenance. He would perform preventative maintenance and repairs on the Finishing team’s essential equipment as needed such as airlines, saws, drills, forklifts, etc. Even one piece of equipment down affects production time, so keeping it maintained and in working order is crucial. Paul was no stranger to the manufacturing environment, he came to Felling Trailers with 16 plus years of experience, working at Crestliner Boats, as part of the production and maintenance departments.

Growing & Taking on New Challenges

Through his time here at Felling, Paul has transitioned from his starting role in Final Assembly to Material Handling, and Maintenance, to his role today as Night Shift Supervisor. “When I moved from one position to the next, it was because I wanted to change up what I was currently doing. I like to try new things and challenge myself,” said Paul. Paul has been supervising the Night Shift team for a little over 4-years and enjoys the variety that each night brings. For the Night Shift team, their shift starts with an update on builds that are a priority for completion, along with any builds that need to be prepped for the next day. Felling’s Night Shift team is comprised of the same departments as the day shift; production weld, paint & blast, fabrication, material handlers, and finishing. The team starts their shift at 4:30 pm, working until 3 am Monday-Thursday. Mixed into their team are a few part-time/flex-shift workers. These are typically high school or college students working part-time to gain experience in manufacturing and welding. “I get to work with some really great people. I like working with the high school kids that work part-time/flex shifts. You get to see them progress as they learn, and when things “click,” the look on their faces, like “I got this,” is pretty cool,” said Paul.

– Paul Pachan, Night Shift Supervisor at Felling Trailers

When asked why Paul chose Felling to be where he worked, he said, “A few friends of mine who worked at Felling told me that Felling was hiring and that they had good people working here. Working with good people makes a job an enjoyable place to be.” Since Paul joined the Felling Trailers’ team ten years ago, he has seen and been part of the company’s growth. “Since I started here, I have seen many additions to the shop, and we are still growing,” said Paul. During the ten years since Paul joined the Felling team, the company has added a second location and a Weekend shift, where team members work 36-hours and get paid for 40, providing flexible work options for each team member’s needs. We are glad to have Paul as part of our team. Thank you, Paul!
