June was National Workplace Safety Month and the perfect time to focus on best safety practices for our staff. Felling Trailers takes safety very seriously so each year we provide safety tips and treats for our employees. Here is a look at how we promoted Workplace Safety Month in June of 2016. These safety tips can apply to many emergency settings so we would like to share them with you.
Share your Emergency Contacts
Make sure you are prepared for when or if an emergency happens. Talk to your family or children on what to do in case of an emergency. Who do they call? Where do they go?
Tip: Have emergency information readily available in your home, your vehicle’s glove box, your wallet and/or on a cell phone app. Information you would want to include would be:
- In case of emergency contact information
- Phone numbers for doctors, fire, police, poison control, 9-1-1 etc.
- Medical conditions, medications being taken and allergies
Remember – Safety is everyone’s responsibility! Felling Trailers, Inc. strives to ensure the safest work environment for all our team members. The safety and well-being of our staff is one of Felling Trailers considerations, but we are always open to help and suggestions. Accidents hurt – safety doesn’t.
“At the end of the day, the goals are simple: safety and security.” – Jodi Rell
Be Healthy
Discuss the dangers of painkillers with your family. Keep medicines and vitamins up and away and out of child’s reach. This week we also handed out Felling Trailers’ water bottles to all employees and discussed the importance of drinking enough water throughout the day.
Tip: Make sure to tell your doctor if you have certain health conditions, including:
- COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder)
- Sleep apnea
- Depression or anxiety
- Personal or family history of addiction or substance abuse
“Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live in.”
Watch Out for Dangers
Make sure you are looking out for hazards wherever you go.
General Wellness
To end National Safety Month, Felling Trailers had a General Wellness Meeting. Jessie Sandoval with JS Wellness was the speaker for this meeting. Jessie went over the importance of staying hydrated and stretching at least two times a day with five key stretching exercises. At the meeting each employee received a 100 Grand Candy Bar with the attached message:
