A few days ago, Felling’s Trailer Experts were on the show floor interacting with asphalt and aggregates professionals from across the country at the 2024 World of Asphalt Show, Mar. 25-27. Over 15,800 industry professionals took on the three-day event in the Music City, exploring more than 440 exhibitors and 120 educational sessions. In the show’s history, 2024 made for the largest World of Asphalt and AGG1 Aggregates Academy & Expo. The exhibit floor encompassed more than 207,000 square feet of the Music City Center, a 14,000-foot increase compared to 2022’s event in the same space. Felling Trailers has been participating in this industry event for nearly a decade.
“World of Asphalt and AGG1 gives Felling Trailers the opportunity to interact with our dealers, long-time customers, and future partners in the paving industry. This year’s show attendance was definitely higher than past years, along with more exhibitors. We appreciate everyone who stopped by our booth. We are looking forward to coming back in 2025.”
— Nathan Uphus, Felling Sales Manager
Felling brought an FT-45-2 LP Paver (PDF) flatbed tag trailer to this year’s show, which featured the patented Air Bi-Fold Ramps System (U. S. Patent 11,613,197). The 22 ½ ton Paver trailer piqued the interest of many attendees, as Felling’s Trailer Experts would demonstrate the operation of the air bi-folding ramps. “One gentleman was blown away by our air ramp design. He had all of his guys come to the booth and check it out,” said Uphus. The gentleman told Uphus, “There’s no doubt we’ll be ordering a trailer from Felling.”
Felling’s Air Bi-Fold system is a revolutionary system that is perfect for the paving and low clearance markets. The wood inlaid 11′ (7.5’+3.5’) x 45” wide Air Bi-Fold ramps were designed to accommodate the load angle necessary when loading cumbersome low-clearance paving equipment. The 11’ length provides the operator with a gentler, more gradual incline to provide ease in loading/unloading with its 9.5º load angle with the option of air ride suspension when the air is dropped.
Few manufacturers in the marketplace offer an Air Bi-Fold Ramp system, let alone with the functionality that Felling’s offers. A key feature of Felling’s design is the operation of the flip ramp. The flip ramp locks out fully when extending, preventing scraping or marring of the ground, which is undesirable, especially if it’s a new surface of any kind. Another key feature is Fellings’ controlled flow air ramp technology, which provides for soft ground contact of the ramp, keeping new surfaces free from damage.
