Horizontal directional drilling (HDD) crews ask a lot of their equipment. Your drill has to perform in tough ground conditions, your mud system has to keep up, and your trailer has to move it all safely from job to job. That’s where the right Horizontal Directional Drill Trailer can make a real difference in your day-to-day productivity, safety, and deadlines.
Felling’s HDD trailer lineup is engineered around how drill crews actually work in the field from the loading angle and tie-down layout to drill-specific kits and long-term durability.
Drop Deck Series
No matter which of our seven Drop Deck models you choose, you’re getting the same drill-friendly deck layout, ramp design, tie-down pattern, and standard safety gear. The differences come down to how big your drill is and how much payload you need. Each step up in the line adds deck length, axle capacity, and hitch strength, so you can match your HDD Trailer to the size of rig and fluid system you run.
- Every Drop Deck Drill Series trailer is drill-ready from day one, with steel mounting strips under the deck to mount a mud tank or drill kit.
- All models share a low, gradual load angle, using a wood inlay dovetail and 6 foot angle iron spring assist ramps to make loading and unloading smoother for the operator.
- Ramps are mounted roadside on a full-width ramp rod so they stay aligned and provide a clear, consistent path up onto the deck.
- All seven models share the same overall footprint at 102 inches wide with roughly 82 to 83 inches between the fenders.
- Each trailer includes a precisely placed tie-down layout with 10 D rings placed around the deck, fenders, and beavertail for flexible and secure equipment tie-down.
- LED lighting, a sealed wiring harness, 7 pole RV plug, safety chains, and a document holder are standard across the entire Drop Deck Drill Series.
Deck Over Series
All four Deck Over models share the same low deck height, ramp and beavertail profile, frame design, and tie down layout. Each trailer gives operators the same predictable loading experience and securement options, with self-cleaning ramps and multiple D rings positioned where HDD contractors actually need them. The real differences from model to model come down to how much drill and support equipment you need to carry, how large your mud system is, and what type of tow vehicle and braking system you run.
- All four deck over HDD trailers have an approximate 33 inch loaded deck height and 35 inch unloaded deck height to help with loading low clearance equipment.
- They all use engineered, fabricated high tensile Grade 80 main frame beams with Grade 80 Jr I cross members, giving a strong backbone for heavy HDD loads.
- Every model has a self-cleaning 6-foot angle iron beavertail with a double incline plus 6-foot by 20-inch self-cleaning spring assist ramps to give a consistent, predictable load angle and help shed mud and debris off the tail and ramps.
- Deck type and footprint stay the same. All four use 2 inch nominal white oak decking and are 102 inches wide overall, so the trailer feels the same even as you move up in capacity.
- They all include D ring tie downs centered along the beavertail and deck edges. The 30K and 40K models have 12 D rings, while the 45K and 50K models step up to 14 D rings for more securement options with heavier drills and tanks.
- The hitch style and jacks are the same across the family. Each trailer uses a 3 inch adjustable lunette eye and pintle with a 66,000 pound plate mount and a 140,000 pound twin 2 speed jack with 39,000 pounds of lift. That means hook up and unhook feel the same from model to model.
- LED Peterson lights, a sealed Sealco wiring harness, and steps on the hitch and roadside ahead of the axles are standard on all four Low Pro HDD models.
- Every trailer includes a lockable toolbox mounted forward in the A frame to keep HDD tooling, straps, and smaller accessories organized.
