Felling Trailers Implements Safety 24/7

Currently, Felling Trailers, Inc. has implemented Safety 24/7, a behavior-based safety awareness program. Sheri Leonard, Human Resources/Safety Coordinator at Felling Trailers works to keep Felling employees aware and take safety into their own hands, “We want all of our employees to be involved in safety in some way whether it is giving safety tips to improve a safe working environment, to bringing it home and practicing safety with their family.” Also, Felling Trailers, Inc. has partnered with OECS (OSHA/Environmental Compliance Systems) to assist with safety programs, training, audits, assessments, and more. OECS will be onsite every month providing Felling Trailers, Inc. with advice, training, and get our facility even more involved with safety. In addition to this, we have an internal safety committee that meets on a monthly basis and does audits throughout the facility and these members will rotate out every quarter so many employees will have the opportunity to be a part of the safety team.

Changing the Safety Culture

Through Safety 24/7, Felling Trailers is trying to change their culture, by having employees identify at-risk behaviors. Mark Johnson, Manufacturing Coordinator at Felling Trailers explained how Felling Trailers is doing more thorough investigations. “The 24/7 training lasted for 6 sessions and included all supervisors. Then the supervisors trained and orientated their employees. We now are doing monthly audits of in both plants with a two-person team and the details are brought to the safety meeting.”
