Grow with Us: The People of Felling, Jim Robischon, Accounting Coordinator

Felling Trailers has been proudly manufacturing trailers for over 45 years! Join us as we take a look back and see how much our company, along with our employees, has grown. Many of you may already know the story of how Felling Trailers started as a small fabrication shop in downtown Sauk Centre in 1974. Continuing to add to this story, we invite you to read our “Grow with Us Series – 14.” Here you will meet the people of Felling; we will share a bit about the people that have played a part in what our company is today and where we will be tomorrow. Some of the people you will meet have been with us for many years, some decades, and others are starting their careers. To continue our series, we would like you to meet Jim Robischon, Accounting Coordinator, Felling Trailers, Inc., Sauk Centre.

Jim Robischon, Accounting Coordinator

Name: Jim RobischonJim Robischon, Accounting Coordinator, Felling Trailers, Inc
Status: 20 Years
Title: Accounting Coordinator

Jim joined the Felling Trailers team in February of 2000, handling Inventory and Costing of materials needed for the production of trailers. Prior to this, Jim worked in an accounting role for a local co-op and was ready for something different. “At the time, it was needed, Merle Felling was looking to fill a new position, and it worked. Felling Trailers offered a better atmosphere, compensation, and benefits. Merle & Kathy are good people,” said Jim.

Flexibility Between Departments is a Great Asset

In his time with Felling Trailers, Jim’s role with the company has grown and evolved to his current position as the Accounting Coordinator.  “Through the years, my position has stayed the same, a lot of other functions have come in to play as employees would come and go, and I would be asked to assist. This ranged from human resources, hiring, safety, payroll, dealers, legal, trucking issues, time clock, inventory, costing, and so on as help was needed,” said Jim. The work all needs to be done, and Jim’s flexibility and ability to work between departments has been a great asset to the company.

– Jim Robischon, Accounting Coordinator at Felling Trailers

Accounting Coordinator Responsibilities

As the Accounting Coordinator, Jim is responsible for processing all accounts payable functions, receiving and posting invoices, then working with internal department teams to verify approval for payment. For every purchased item needed to run the company, to produce a trailer, the paper trail comes to Jim’s inbox. Jim meticulously enters invoices, issues payments, files and archives to keep the wheels of production rolling. Additionally, he reviews invoices and analyzes payments to each state, managing monthly sales tax reporting.  When new dealers are added to Felling’s network, he ensures all necessary documentation is received and entered into the system to allow business to be done between the two entities.

Company Growth & Becoming More Specialized in Role

When Jim joined the Felling team 20 years ago, it was a much smaller business; he has seen and been a part of much of the company’s growth. “Small to large, one person can’t do many things, each person’s role becomes more specialized,” said Jim. In 2000, less than 20 people were handling the office’s various functions; now, there are over 60, two locations, and many more team members on the shop production floor. We are glad to have Jim as part of our team. Thank you, Jim!
