Felling Trailers has been proudly manufacturing trailers for 50 years. Join us as we take a look back and see how much our company, along with our employees, has grown. Many of you may already know the story of how Felling Trailers started as a small fabrication shop in downtown Sauk Centre in 1974. Continuing to add to this story, we invite you to read our “Grow with Us Series – 39.” Here, you will meet the people of Felling; we will share a bit about the people who have played a part in what our company is today and where we will be tomorrow. Some people you will meet have been with us for many years, some decades, and others are starting their careers. To continue our series, we want you to meet Ted Perish, Maintenance Technician for Felling Trailers, Inc.
Grow With Us Series – 39
Ted Perish
Felling Trailers
Name: Ted Perish
Status: 5 years
Title: Maintenance Technician
Ted joined the Felling Trailers Team in January 2019 as a Maintenance Technician, taking care of preventative and repair maintenance of the production plant and equipment. Before his time with Felling, Ted attended Staples Technical College, earning a two-year degree in Graphic Arts. He put that degree to use working at Banta Publications/R.R. Donnelley, a print house in Long Prairie, MN, where he worked in press operations for 23 years, then transitioned into Maintenance for two years. Leaving the print industry but enjoying working in maintenance, Ted moved on to work at Lakewood Hospital for a year and a half before coming to Felling Trailers.
Leveraging Technical Skills to Maintain Efficiency
As part of the maintenance team, Ted can use his technician skills to ensure that the plant and production equipment work in optimum condition. From daily preventative Maintenance (PMS planned maintenance system) to repairs, Ted helps keep the Sauk Centre facility’s essential equipment, such as welders, airlines, saws, drills, paint booths, forklifts, etc., in performing condition. Even one piece of equipment down affects production time, so keeping it in working order is crucial. Along with his work at Felling, Ted owns and operates the family farm he grew up on.
“After working for a large corporation for many years, working for a locally owned, private company is nice. It is more of a ‘personal feeling’. I enjoy the variety and challenges that come with an industrial setting like Felling. I like learning how things work.”
— Ted Perish, Maintenance Technician
Since joining the Felling Trailers team five years ago, Ted has had the opportunity to contribute to the company’s growth and expansion. “With the addition of the new paint facility, tube lasers, and all the automation that comes with it, the growth has been extraordinary,” said Ted. Each day holds a new list of tasks, some planned, some at a moment’s notice, but all the same in the matter that they need to be dealt with and remedied to keep work moving smoothly. We are glad to have Ted on our team. Thank you for all you do, Ted!
